Inside the Mass. Labor Law that Snagged Uber & Lyft

In 2013 New Jobs researched and wrote a definitive report on the ABC Test in Massachusetts Labor law.

New Jobs' research showed that the ABC Test's 2004 wording prohibited buyers from using independent contractors in over 600 occupations. ABC's treble-damage penalties harshly threatened firms that attempted to buy the services of individuals working independently.

Uber and Lyft recently agree to a fractional-billion dollar settlement with the Mass Attorney General's Office.

Complete details about the law, which will damage buyers and sellers, are contained in the linked document below, MICL_FINAL_REPORT-25.
